Make It Yours
At Butta Studio, we perfect your look.
A traditional one-piece Chuba / Bakhu is essentially a high-collared, wide-bodied gown with exceptionally long sleeves.
-
The Length: It is typically cut much longer than the wearer’s height. The "excess" fabric is pulled up at the waist and secured with a sash (kera), creating a large, functional pouch at the chest.
-
The Wrap: The front features a deep, asymmetrical wrap that crosses from left to right, fastening at the right shoulder and under the right arm with traditional cloth ties or buttons
Styling & Traditional Pairing
To complete the look of a one-piece Chuba, specific elements are added based on the wearer's background:
-
The Wonju: A long-sleeved silk or polyester blouse worn underneath, usually in a contrasting bright color.
-
The Pangden: For married women, a three-piece striped woolen apron is tied over the one-piece Chuba at the front.
-
The Kera: A sturdy woven sash that is the "engine" of the outfit, holding the entire structure together at the waist.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
-
Dry Clean Only: To maintain the structure of the brocade and the vibrancy of the colors.
-
Do Not Bleach: Harsh chemicals will damage the natural fibers and metallic threads.
-
Cool Iron / Steam: Iron on the reverse side only. Use a pressing cloth to avoid "shining" the fabric.
-
Store Flat or on Padded Hangers: To prevent the heavy skirt from stretching or losing its shape.
