Tayo (or Tayao) is one of the most iconic and largest traditional Newari ethnic ornaments from Nepal. It is a ritualistic necklace primarily worn by Newar girls, brides, and women, as well as by significant deities such as the Living Goddess Kumari, Lokeshwor, and Yogini during special ceremonies and festivals.

The Pendant (Tayo): A traditional spindle-shaped or hexagonal gold-toned pendant, which represents the sacred geometry and directions of the Kathmandu Valley.
Artisanal Detailing: The face of the pendant is intricately textured with a diagonal lattice pattern and clear stone embellishments, topped with a fan-like crown of ruby-red stones representing the protective Nagas (snake heads).
The Muga Mala: The pendant is strung on a bold Muga Mala consisting of large, polished deep-red beads that mimic traditional coral, providing a high-contrast, regal aesthetic.
Reverse Craftsmanship: The back of the pendant shows a smooth, hollow gold-plated finish, typical of traditional Newari jewelry construction for both durability and comfort.
